Letture per il tempo libero nella rubrica di The Ghost Reader.
“Leggiamo
insieme” sarà la rubrica che ogni sabato vi presenterà due libri, uno per gli
adulti e uno per i più giovani, “sperando di accendere in voi la curiosità della loro lettura”
ha sottolineato il suo curatore, The Ghost Reader, che continua “rubacchiando”,
se così si può dire, un pensiero di Umberto Eco: “Chi non legge a settant’anni
avrà vissuto una sola vita: la propria. Chi legge avrà vissuto 5000 anni“. Per
cui buona lettura.
"Tredici", di Jay Asher, inizia con un incipit composto dalle parole della protagonista: “Ciao a tutti. Spero per voi che siate pronti, perché sto per raccontarvi la storia della mia vita. O meglio, come mai è finita. E se state ascoltando queste cassette è perché voi siete una delle ragioni. Non vi dirò quale nastro vi chiamerà in causa. Ma non preoccupatevi, se avete ricevuto questo bel pacco regalo, prima o poi il vostro nome salterà fuori… Ve lo prometto.”
Queste parole sono all’inizio di un nastro che viene ascoltato da
Clay Jensen, il quale davanti alla sua porta si trova una scatola con 13
cassette. La voce è di Hanna Baker, la ragazza di cui è innamorato dalla prima
liceo, la stessa che si è suicidata soltanto un paio di settimane prima. Clay è
sconvolto, da un lato non vorrebbe avere nulla a che fare con quei nastri,
perché è troppo sofferente per lui. Tuttavia, ascoltando le cassette, egli
entra
in contatto con la verità dei fatti vissuti da Hanna. La verità di
Hanna contrapposta a quella degli altri. Tredici cassette, tredici motivi,
tredici storie che coinvolgono Clay e alcuni dei suoi compagni di scuola e che,
una volta ascoltati, sconvolgeranno per sempre le loro esistenze.
"Tredici" è un libro che parla di adolescenti
problematici che hanno solo il bisogno di sentirsi accettati dagli altri e per
questo nascondono in continuazione il loro vero IO. C’è chi si nasconde per la
propria sessualità, chi non vuole contraddire il volere dei propri genitori,
chi vuole eccellere negli sport o chi nel campo scolastico e poi ci sono le
tipe come Hanna che vorrebbero solo essere lasciate in pace. Hanna è una
ragazza problematica che vorrebbe essere accettata dagli altri ed amata ma una
serie di bugie la mettono al centro dei pettegolezzi. Il problema delle bugie è
che ognuno aggiunge un personale commento e questo provoca una catena
interminabile di bugie.
"Tredici" è un romanzo scorrevole e molto semplice da leggere. Un thriller adolescenziale, illuminante e psicologico che mette in guardia dalle conseguenze delle proprie azioni, anche da quelle compiute inconsciamente. A tratti sembra un libro più per adolescenti, a tratti per le tematiche trattate come lo stupro, il bullismo si comprende che può coinvolgere anche un pubblico più adulto. E’ un libro che può donare diversi esempi da non seguire e di come la vita vada vissuta a pieno, senza prendere decisioni malsane che ci potranno condizionare a vita. Hanna dà voce al dramma vissuto dai giovani d’oggi, poco ascoltati, poco considerati, troppo giudicati dagli adulti, dai coetanei e da sè stessi. Per giovani lettori dai 17 anni.
Parlare di "Ferrovie del Messico" (Laurana Editore) di Gian Marco Griffi è difficile perché è il tentativo di dare ordine a una materia che ha il suo punto di forza nel perdersi, nel rincorrere, nel disordine spazio-temporale, nell’alternanza tra realtà e fantasia fino al punto di confondere l’una con l’altra.
È impresa ardua trovare le giuste parole per descrivere quest'
opera, per convincere il lettore ad approcciare un romanzo di oltre 800 pagine
la cui trama potrebbe (estremizzando) essere riassunta in poche righe, per
circoscrivere i confini di un mondo reale e di finzione dove le citazioni, i
richiami, gli echi di tutto ciò che è stato scritto e che potrebbe essere
scritto si mescolano come in un frullatore, lasciando alla fine una sensazione
di stupore quasi infantile.
"Ferrovie del Messico" è un viaggio inaspettato tra
ambientazioni diverse, anni lontani e personaggi tanto distaccati dal contesto
storico, quanto, per questo, capaci di restare saldi nei loro intenti tra le
bizzarrie, le stramberie, le magie che li circondano.
Il lettore che ama il sapore della letteratura sudamericana, gli
accostamenti azzardati, la magia dei suoni forti, lo stordimento che solo certe
descrizioni totalizzanti sono in grado di regalare, insieme alla sensazione che
qualcuno ti abbia veramente capito, apprezzerà allora perdersi tra le
meravigliose pagine di questo romanzo enciclopedico.

It is difficult to find the right words to describe this work, to

daring combinations, the magic of loud sounds, the stupefaction that only
certain all-encompassing descriptions are able to give, together with the
feeling that someone has really understood you, will then appreciate getting
lost among the wonderful pages of this encyclopedic novel.
