Il 22 febbraio 2021 moriva l’Ambasciatore italiano Luca
Attanasio, in un attentato mentre si spostava con un convoglio del Programma
alimentare mondiale nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, insieme al
carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci, e all’autista Mustapha Milambo.

hanno conosciuto, è ancora vivo in mezzo a noi. Rho ha avuto la possibilità di conoscere meglio la storia dell’Ambasciatore Luca Attanasio , grazie all’impegno del Gruppo Artiglieri rhodensi che hanno portato in città, prima nell’IT Enrico Mattei, e poi nella sala convegni del Centrho, il padre Salvatore Attanasio accompagnato da Pierre Kabeza, fondatore in Italia dell’associazione amici del dottor Denis Mukwege, premio Nobel per la pace 2018.
Il messaggio, che ne è uscito da questi incontri, sono la generosità, la semplicità e la grande umanità, che l’Ambasciatore aveva nel suo DNA, “quando è arrivato nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo ha visto la povertà, e l’abbandono di tanti bambini”. Sognare è possibile, ma non basta sognare, bisogna difendere le proprie idee, ricordando che sognare vuol dire anche guardare oltre. Oggi a Limbiate ci saranno vari eventi in ricordo di Luca Attanasio: la scopertura di una targa di una villa del comune a lui dedicata; nel pomeriggio la visita presso la sua tomba al cimitero centrale di Limbiate; alle 21 nella Chiesa di San Giorgio una messa in suo onore celebrata dall’Arcivescovo di Milano, monsignor Mario Delpini.
