“Come disse D’Azeglio fatta l’Italia bisogna fare gli
italiani. Nelle trincee del Carso, del Grappa, sul Piave, con i famosi ragazzi
del 1899, si sono fatti davvero anche gli italiani, perché fu lì, in quelle
trincee, in mezzo al sangue al dolore alla guerra che gli italiani si unirono,
si riconobbero, si affratellarono, scambiarono esperienze di vita, familiari e
personali, riconoscendosi tutti italiani. In quelle trincee siamo nati noi, sono
nati gli italiani di oggi, con la loro solidarietà, amicizia, cultura, umanità,
capaci di riconoscere e rispettare i diritti degli altri popoli, di impegnarsi
per costruire la pace”.
“Tuttavia l’Unità Nazionale si poteva raggiungere solo con
una azione di popolo, una presa di coscienza collettiva, indispensabili per
consentire quella stabilità che ha oggi il nostro Paese”.
“Il compito delle Forze Armate è anche quello di proteggere
la democrazia, i suoi valori di libertà civili, politica e sociali ereditate
dai nostri padri. Soprattutto oggi dobbiamo difenderci dall’aggressività e
pericolosità di autocrazie sempre più pericolose. Le Forze Armate hanno un fine
supremo, quello di preservare il bene più prezioso di tutti: la vita della
Nazione, delle istituzioni, dei cittadini”.

LA PACE OGNI GIORNO”.
