E’ stata presentata venerdì 24 febbraio 2023, presso il Palazzo della Regione Piemonte, la corsa più antica del mondo, la 104^ edizione della Milano- Torino presented by Crédit Agricole, che si terrà mercoledì 15 marzo. Una corsa di 192 Km con partenza da Rho e arrivo a Orbassano, un percorso adatto ai velocisti, in quanto non presenta particolari difficoltà altimetriche. 17 i team alla partenza. L’ultima edizione è stata vinta da Mark Cavendish.

Presente all’evento l’assessore allo sport del Comune di Rho, Alessandra Borghetti: "Avere portato a Rho la partenza della Milano-Torino rappresenta per noi un momento importante, che si colloca in una solida tradizione locale di passione per il ciclismo. Le nostre società sportive di settore stanno vivendo settimane di grande fermento in attesa della partenza del 15 marzo.

Rho ama il ciclismo e lo dimostrerà ancora una volta, con l’entusiasmo di diverse generazioni, dai più piccoli ai più anziani. Ospitare per la prima volta una gara di questa portata non è però un traguardo ma una partenza e ci impegneremo per mantenere un profilo alto in ambito sportivo". Inaugurazione che ha visto la presenza dell’assessore allo sport della Regione Piemonte, Fabrizio Ricca, dell’amministratore delegato di RCS Sport, Paolo Bellino, e del sindaco di Orbassano, Cinzia Maria Bosso.

Anche il sindaco di Rho, Andrea Orlandi, ha voluto ricordare la tradizione ciclistica rhodense “Siamo contenti di ospitare la più antica corsa ciclistica. Rho si conferma città dello sport, un centro sempre più in grado di accogliere importanti eventi sovralocali. La forte tradizione ciclistica locale affonda le sue radici in anni lontani. Le società ciclistiche hanno sfornato, nel corso del tempo, campioni di notevole rilievo, giunti a vincere titoli di portata mondiale, mentre animano attività quotidiane per i nostri ragazzi che crescono con una notevole passione per le due ruote”.

Il percorso è sostanzialmente pianeggiante fatto salvo l’attraversamento del Canavese dove sono proposte alcune rampe assieme a brevi saliscendi che non presentano né lunghezze né pendenze particolari. Partenza da Rho per attraversare su strade pianeggianti l’alta pianura padana nella zona delle risaie toccando Magenta, Novara e Vercelli per portarsi quindi nel Canavese a Caluso e Foglizzo. Il Canavese si presenta con piccoli saliscendi che proseguono fino a Nord di Torino nella zona del Parco della Mandria. All’imbocco della Val di Susa la strada torna sostanzialmente in leggera discesa o pianeggiante fino all’arrivo. Si incontrano, negli abitati attraversati, i consueti ostacoli cittadini come rotatorie, spartitraffico e passaggi rialzati. Ultimi 10 km praticamente pianeggianti e quasi diritti fino all’arrivo di Orbassano. Ultimi 5 km pianeggianti su strade cittadine molto ampie con la presenza rotatorie in successione. Ultima curva a 400m dall’arrivo. Rettilineo finale di 400 m, ampio, larghezza di 8.5 m.

The Canavese presents itself with small ups and downs that continue up to the north of Turin in the area of the Parco della Mandria. At the entrance to the Val di Susa, the road returns essentially slightly downhill or flat until the finish.
